Anyone else fed up of Katy French?

Because I sure know I am. I can't understand why so much is being made of a B-list (at the very most) celebrity who decided to snort enough cocaine to kill an elephant is being revered throughout the place. When did she ever show talent for anything other than standing in front of a camera? She was a junkie. Simple as.

Wouldn't it be nice if our media had the sense to stop glorifying drug addicts by giving them coverage and attention at every arrest and coma, and make them NON-people instead? My feeling is, there should be deep shame attached to being a drug addict, alive or dead. My nephew died of a drug overdose, and when celebrities model that behaviour for the next generation of kids, I'm just sick.

On the other hand, I feel so sad for her family, who have to see this dragged up again. Can you imagine what it be like if you lost someone you loved tremendously, and had to see such details in the paper every day? Horrible. So I'm hating the coverage on two counts.

I must admit that I never buy the Independent anymore no matter their headlines or freebies, the one reason being the Indo's weird devotion to vacuous models (and KF was the usual) and other favourites, such as Victoria Mary Clarke, who seems to get several photographs over at least a full page per issue and for what reason? I liked her as a columnist; not so much as Queen of the Sunday Paper. There are other columnists just as interesting and they're still stuck with their three inches. It all comes across as an Indo-clique that's a big turnoff. So, bleugh. Switched.

Exactly! That's what I was trying to get at, but when you're posting at night thoughts aren't exactly coherent. Hehe. I'm sorry about your nephew, but glamourising drugs is wrong.

Thanks, I understand. My thought is, that if only there were more stigma and collective horror attached to drug use, my nephew might (who knows?) still be with us.

I tagged you on my blog by the way... bwah ha ha ha ha ha...
